And when the people saw that Moses delayed to come down out of the mount, the people gathered themselves together unto Aaron, and said unto him, Up, make us gods, which shall go before us; for as for this Moses, the man that brought us up out of the land of Egypt, we wot not what is become of him.

And Aaron said unto them, Break off the golden earrings, which are in the ears of your wives, of your sons, and of your daughters, and bring them unto me.

And all the people brake off the golden earrings which were in their ears, and brought them unto Aaron.

And he received them at their hand, and fashioned it with a graving tool, after he had made it a molten calf: and they said, These be thy gods, O Israel, which brought thee up out of the land of Egypt.

And when Aaron saw it, he built an altar before it; and Aaron made proclamation, and said, To morrow is a feast to the LORD

And it came to pass, as soon as he came nigh unto the camp, that he saw the calf, and the dancing

CHETTIKULANGARA KUMBHA BHARANI Colours of Festival

Chettikulangar is place in Kerla, In India, where a famous festival takes place in the month of "Kumbham"( according to Malayalam calender) and that was on 20 th of february 2010. As per malayalam Calender, the festval falls on the malayalam date and not as per the grgorian calender date.

The importance of this festival is, the unique and decorative "theru" "Kuthira" and other staues. Theru means a chariot and Kuthira means Horse. Eventhough it is named like that it has nothing to do with the horse and chariot.

The kuthira is 10 meters of height and the theru is about 20-30 meters tall. These are offerings to the mother goddess chettikulangara bhagavathi( means goddess of the place named chettikulangara). On the day of festival people from different locations will display this infront of mother god for blessings..

The structures are man made and they are tall and large, where they are brought infront of godess with manpower only
